If you are using a reservoir to feed your plants in a hydroponic system it is important to use an air pump and air stone in the tank. The air stone will keep the nutrient solution fully oxygenated and well mixed. A plant will thrive when its roots have a good supply of oxygen and beneficial microbes that grow in the root zone will flourish. Better roots will mean a bigger healthier plant.
